I have some large vacuum pumps that have worn housings and I have been asked to look at manufacturing new housings , with a slight modification to the port locations - this is not a issue , but they need to be coated , then machined. The coating would need to be applied direct to the Alluminium housing and then machined. The pump currently uses carbon vanes , though we may go to a ceramic type for longer life.

Can any-one help with information on how to go about this process as I am new to the coating side of things.

Is there a way we could do this in- house , cold spray etc?
